Art Matters

I firmly believe that great organizations like the Ann Arbor Art Center are critical to the quality of life in our community and am very pleased to be able to offer my support to the Art Center by serving on the Board.

- Bruce Duncan, Comerica Regional President

About the Art Center

Our Mission......To be a dynamic organization engaging the community in education, exhibition and exploration of the visual arts.

Our Vision.....To be energized by the diversity of participants, the quality and depth of programs and an informal atmosphere that welcomes everyone.

EDUCATION. EXHIBITION. EXPLORATION.
The Ann Arbor Art Center is a 501(c)3. As the 3rd oldest arts organization in Michigan, the Ann Arbor Art Center strives to engage the community in visual arts by offering:

  • Studio art and art appreciation courses
  • Monthly public exhibitions
  • A Gallery Shop promoting regional artists
  • Outreach programs funding art education for children
  • Special events such as WineFest, Sundays @ the Art Center, 30 x 30 Art Sale and more!

With such diverse programs, no wonder we attract an eclectic bunch.  From toddlers to seniors, our students choose from more than 250 beginner to advanced level courses using clay, paint, pencil, pastel, metal, fiber, paper, and canvas.

The Art Center offers the community a welcoming environment where you can challenge yourself. Sparking creativity for over a century, the Art Center includes professional staff members, a team of highly qualified art instructors, hundreds of volunteers, ties to over 2500 Michigan artists, and a donor community exceeding 2,000. As we've grown through the years, our outreach programs have expanded as well. Each year over 200 children receive tuition grants for a free year of art courses funded by the Art for Kids Scholarship Fund. Bound by an appreciation for art, our participants and contributors support a facility that encourages beginners, promotes Michigan artists, and works passionately to make art training available to all.

Treat yourself to exhibitions by talented Michigan artists or to first rate instruction whether you plan to display your artwork in a gallery or on your refrigerator. Discover a place that connects and celebrates artists of all ages, skill levels, and walks of life. If the versatility and accessibility of such a facility interests you, come find yourself at the Art Center.  Please take a minute to browse the website and the services we offer thanks to our generous supporters.

General disclaimer: The Ann Arbor Art Center is not responsible if one minute of browsing turns into one hour of salivating over all the choices, which in turn, prevents an individual from completing their daily tasks and inspires said individual to quit their job and take art classes all day. It could happen. Consider yourself warned.
