It is phenomenal that non-profits were providing art education; they were filling the gap. Without the Art Center there would be a huge hole in the community.

Ann Arbor Art Center’s 30 x 30 Benefit Art Sale
Supports the Art for Kids Scholarship Fund
Ann Arbor, MI – March 3, 2011 – 30 artists accepted our challenge to create 30 works of art in 30 days to be sold at 1 time to benefit 1 great cause – the Ann Arbor Art Center’s Art for Kids Scholarship Fund. All works of art will be sold for $40 and will be on display at the Ann Arbor Art Center beginning March 25 but will not be available for purchase until 10 AM on March 26. The sale will continue until 2:00 PM on the 26th and will reopen on the March 27 at noon if not sold out. The Art for Kids Scholarship Fund provides tuition and art supplies to enable kids to take art classes who otherwise would not be able to do so. Approximately 150 scholarships are awarded annually.
In addition to paintings on canvas, the sale will also include photographs, mixed media, ceramics and jewelry offering a wide variety of items for sale. Works can be previewed on the 30X30 Ann Arbor Art Center Facebook page.
In its second year, the 30 x 30 Benefit Art Sale has once again received a tremendous response from artists. Seventy-three artists submitted proposals to participate and thirty were chosen. Fifty percent of the artists are new this year and the best selling artists from last year have been invited to return. “This project has captured the imagination of artists from all over southeast Michigan. They are eager to help create an opportunity for kids through the sale of their work” says Development Events Manager, Samantha Solis.
