I have always been lucky to live downtown within walking distance of this wonderful cultural center. I always look forward to seeing the creative work of new and familiar artists.

Above are some of the many faces of the Ann Arbor Art Center. People like you who have taken advantage of the Art Center and all that it has to offer. Sustaining our programs in these lean economic times is challenging. We depend on donations to supplement our efforts.
Our operating budget is 30% less than five years ago primarily because donations are down from individuals and corporations, as is State arts council funding. We earn 65% of our income, but donations make a very big difference for the Art Center. Donations support the scholarships we award, help us maintain the historic downtown building that we own, fund the free programs and exhibitions that we offer, and keep prices affordable for our other programs.
Because Art Matters to the economic well-being of our community, we have created a unique place where you can create, see, buy, exhibit and sell art. We are an important part of a lively, appealing, thriving downtown community that draws people to the city. People come from all around to see our exhibitions and shop for local artists’ work.
Because Art Matters to the development of kids, both academically and socially, we encourage Michigan’s kids to explore their creative spirits. We inspire learning and dare them to think “outside the lines.” Art matters for adults too. Creative thinkers are essential in our society and learning never ends. To that end, we offer hundreds of courses annually and award scholarships to those who need them - kids, teens and adults - who otherwise could not afford to participate.
The Ann Arbor Art Center brings the visual arts into the lives of thousands of individuals throughout southeastern Michigan. It is a valuable asset to our community in so many ways. As 2011 comes to an end, please consider making a donation to the non-profit Art Center. Your support will help us continue to promote an environment of creativity, culture and cohesiveness in the community where we live, work and play.
