In my opinion, one of the greatest gifts the Ann Arbor Art Center offers is the ability to move with the community throughout its various stages of life. I originally volunteered. In the future I look forward to taking classes myself and sharing the arts with our son.
The Art Center's Open Studio program provides an excellent environment and a supportive community for you to develop your artwork independently. If you have taken at least two Art Center courses in the past two years or are currently enrolled, you can work in the Art Center's studios. Limited storage of any artwork in progress is provided. Open studio hours (not monitored) are held during regular building hours when there are no classes/events scheduled; days and times are listed below. Open studio passes are available for purchase throughout the term. However, passes cannot be carried over to the next term. Hours include the use of all equipment, glaze materials and a set amount of firing cubic feet. Additional firing space can be purchased. Only work made at the studio will be fired. Clay can be purchased at the Art Center. One shelf is reserved for your tools and work in progress. Please contact the studio manager with questions. * Please Note: Every new student enrolled in Ceramics Open Studio must contact the studio manager to schedule an orientation.

This open studio provides a drop in style environment for those artists who wish to work independently from the figure in the medium of their choice. No instruction is provided. Work independently from nude models in a large, private studio space. Purchase a five session pass or drop in for $14 per session

This open studio provides a drop in style environment for students enrolled in an Art Center Painting class during the current term who wish to work independently from the still life from their class. No instruction is provided. Work independently in a large, private studio space. Please arrange the use of the still life with your instructor.
