Does the Art Center represent only Michigan artists in its galleries?
  The Art Center is committed to representing local artists, both the Exhibition Gallery and Gallery 2 feature exclusively Michigan artists. The Gallery Shop represents primarily local and regional artists, most of who are from Michigan. The Gallery Shop directors attend national shows throughout the year to seek artists from other regions as well.
   
Can the Art Center call the artist with a special request?
  We are happy to work on fulfilling special requests, on an individual basis. Each case depends on the artist and the time of year, among other determining factors. We charge a $5.00 service fee for special requests.
   
Do you have to be member to exhibit your work at the Art Center?
  Membership is required for The Annual: All-Media competition, a members-only show that has been a tradition since 1922 at the Art Center. This exhibition invites artists from all disciplines who are members to enter a juried all-media competition. Artists who are not members have the option of joining the Ann Arbor Art Center upon entry in order to participate in the event. In all other instances, membership is not a requirement to present or show work for exhibition at the Art Center.
   
Do you sell art supplies?
  Art supplies are not available for purchase at the Art Center; however, we can provide suggestions for art supply stores in the area. If you?re an Art Center member, you receive discounts at select locations.
   
Where should I park when visiting the Art Center?
  If you are visiting our 117 West Liberty location, there is a parking lot at William and Ashley streets, located directly behind the Art Center. The cost is $1.05/hr. for parking; members receive parking validation with purchases. There are parking meters located throughout the downtown Ann Arbor. The Art Center?s Art Factory, located at 220 Felch Street, has parking on-site for class participants.
   
How do you list job openings?
  Any available job openings are listed on our website.
   
What is WineFest and when is it?
  WineFest is an annual food and wine fundraiser to benefit Art Center programs, usually held in April or May.
   
What is the Sommelier Dinner & when is it?
  The Celebrity Sommelier Dinner is held annually in October or November and features local celebrities who act as wine stewards for an evening to benefit Art Center?s programs.
   
Can I host a party, business meeting or special event at the Art Center?
  Yes, the Art Center provides the perfect atmosphere for any event. We have several options available for facility rentals.
   
What are the hours of the Gallery Shop?
  Regular Gallery Shop hours are Monday through Friday from 11-6, Saturday 10-6, and Sunday 10-5.
   
How do I get to the Art Center from the major expressways M-14, I-94, US 23?
  The Art Center is easily accessible from all major freeways. See Art Center locations for driving directions to both our Liberty Street and Felch Street buildings.
   
What are the hours of the reception desk?
  The reception desk is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
   
How do I become an Art Center member?
  You can join as a member online, drop by 117 West Liberty in downtown Ann Arbor, or call us at 734.994.8004 x101.
   
What are the benefits of Art Center membership?
  Membership benefits include discounts on classes, in the galleries, invitations to special events and much more. Join us and begin receiving benefits today!
   
How do you select artists for the monthly Exhibition Gallery shows?
  The Exhibition Gallery director brings proposals from individual artists and suggestions for the following calendar year to the Art Center?s Gallery Advisory Committee. The committee reviews the exhibitions that are being proposed and develops the calendar for the following year.
   
As an artist, how do I show my work in one of the Art Center galleries?
  There is a submission process that each artist must follow in order for us to determine whether their work meets our standards.
   
If I?m interested in teaching a class at the Art Center, how do I apply?
  We are always looking for talented instructors for our studio art classes and workshops.
   
Would you do an art activity at my place?
  We normally don?t provide art activities such as ArtVentures offsite, with the exception of Girl Scout troops.
   
Do you have to pre-register for Art Classes?
  Yes, you must pre-register for all studio art classes, however drop-ins are accepted for some workshops, call 734.994.8004 x101 for additional details.
   
What is the refund policy for classes?
  Unless you received an amended refund policy when you registered, all classes are governed by our standard refund policy.
   
If I start a class late is my tuition prorated?
  The Art Center does not prorate tuition.
   
Can I register the day the class begins?
  Yes, you can register the day the class begins, however it is best to register early to both reserve your spot and also ensure that a class will run and not be canceled (classes that do not meet minimum enrollment may be canceled).
   
How old do my kids need to be to take classes?
  We have classes for children as young as two, if accompanied by an adult. Children must be at least four years old to take classes independently.
   
If I buy a membership now, do I get the course discount?
  Yes!
   
How do I download the course schedule and newsletter?
  Our course schedule, newsletter, and other documents under 'downloads' are in Adobe Acrobat portable document format (PDF). You need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read these documents. If you don't have Acrobat Reader, you can download it free at the link below.
