DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Opening Reception of the next A2AC Gallery exhibition\, We are here because you were there. \n\n\n\nThis event features DJ Manan Desai and will coincide with the opening of the Spotlight Gallery exhibition\, Talismanic: The Collected Collages of Amy Sacksteder. \n\n\n\nWe are here because you were there explores the socio-political and cultural impact of post-colonial migration on the Asian American diaspora. \n\n\n\nBorrowing its title from noted Sri Lankan Tamil activist A. Sivanandan’s (aka “Siva”) famous aphorism\, the six Asian American artists in this exhibition narrate a process of understanding how they reclaim or interpret their lived histories within this post-colonial framework.
