Hand-held instruments and shakers will be provided to create a custom soundtrack. Film loops are free to take home. \n\n\n\nThis month's A2AC PlayLab has two age groups. SUMMARY:We are here because you were there Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Opening Reception of the next A2AC Gallery exhibition\, We are here because you were there. \n\n\n\nThis event features DJ Manan Desai and will coincide with the opening of the Spotlight Gallery exhibition\, Talismanic: The Collected Collages of Amy Sacksteder. \n\n\n\nWe are here because you were there explores the socio-political and cultural impact of post-colonial migration on the Asian American diaspora. \n\n\n\nBorrowing its title from noted Sri Lankan Tamil activist A. Sivanandan’s (aka “Siva”) famous aphorism\, the six Asian American artists in this exhibition narrate a process of understanding how they reclaim or interpret their lived histories within this post-colonial framework. Questioning hegemony\, dualism\, and difference through subversion\, conscious observation\, and humor\, this exhibit challenges the spectator to reflect on these inquiries via these distinct and diverse Asian American voices. \n\n\n\nCurated by Chien-An Yuan \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFeaturing: \n\n\n\nKim Jackson Debord \n\n\n\nLaura Kina \n\n\n\nLarry Lee \n\n\n\nCori Nakamura Lin \n\n\n\nOkyoung Noh \n\n\n\nSherina Rodriguez Sharpe \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis exhibition is presented by \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLEARN MORE ABOUT THE EXHBITION
