Summer Art Camps at the Ann Arbor Art Center:
– 10 individual weeks, from June 24 to August 30, 2019
– Two options to choose from: Creativity camp for children ages 5-12, or Clay camp for children ages 9-12
– Full day program from 9 am-4 pm
– Pre & Post Camp Care options for working parents

CREATIVITY CAMPS: AGES 5-12
Each day, our Creativity Camps are packed with fun and challenging activities that balance learning and play. Campers may experiment with a variety of mediums such as graphite, paint, pastels, charcoal, watercolor, sculptural materials, and more. We encourage campers to take what they’ve learned and apply it to outside-the-box projects. Past projects have included: painting cars, making giant animal balloon sculptures, creating anamorphic sidewalk chalk drawings, casting pewter keychains, and much more!
Week 1: Amazing Architects | June 24 - June 28
Do you love to draw and build? The sky is the limit this week as we put our creativity to the test and learn how to draw, design, and fabricate architectural forms.
Week 2: Mission Impossible | July 1 - July 3
Do you have what it takes to complete a series of exciting and challenging Secret Art Missions? In this 3-day mini-camp, there’s no limit to what we can achieve with a little ingenuity, creativity, and teamwork.
Week 3: Monsters & Magical Beasts | July 8 - July 12
Let loose your imagination and master the art of monster-making and fantastical creature design! Learn how to create exciting and believable creatures using a variety of different mediums.
Week 4: Art in Action | July 15 - July 19
Join us for an action-packed week as we experiment with different types of kinetic art, stop-motion animation, and other types of artwork and art-making that involves movement!
Week 5: Go Wild | July 22 - July 26
Are you an animal lover? Take a walk on the wild side as we explore how to incorporate animals, bugs, reptiles, birds, and aquatic life into our artwork.
Week 6: Color-Palooza | July 29 - August 2
Prepare for an explosion of color! Learn new ways to use color in the form of paint, printmaking, and more to create spectacular works of art.
Week 7: Comics & Characters | August 5 - August 9
Heroes and villains, action and adventure! Learn the secrets to designing visually compelling characters and effectively communicating a story through pictures.
Week 8: Art Innovators | August 12 – August 16
Get ready to use a little innovation and ingenuinity to take your art to the next level.
Week 9: Design Pros | August 19 - August 23
If you love to draw, sculpt, and think outside-the-box, then you may be a designer at heart! Get ready to explore a variety of different design fields as we tackle a number of challenging 2-D and 3-D projects.
CLAY CAMPS: AGES 9-12
Our Clay Camp curriculum is designed to teach the skills of pottery and to encourage the exploration of clay as a material for design, sculpture, and expression. Each week, campers learn to throw on the wheel in the mornings. In the afternoons, campers learn a variety of handbuilding techniques to create stunning sculptures, tiles, or functional items.

Week 2: 3-Day Handbuilding-Only Camp: Sculpt-O-Rama | July 1 – July 3
Welcome to a fantastically fun 3-day camp focused solely on sculpture. Learn and practice the fundamentals of sculpting to make cool projects using a variety of handbuilding techniques.
Week 3: Throwing on the Wheel & Magical Beasts | July 8 – July 12
Let your imagination run away with you as we create wild and crazy creatures! Learn how to give your monsters and magical beasts personality and make them look friendly or fierce. CAMP FULL - JOIN THE WAITLIST!
Week 4: Throwing on the Wheel & Clay in Action | July 15 – July 19

Week 10: Throwing on the Wheel & Think BIG | August 26 – August 30
