Covid-Related Updates to the Camp Program

To ensure the safety of our students and staff, we have modified our 2021 Summer Art Camps in ways that will help mitigate the spread of COVID and still allow children to have a fantastically fun and creative experience.

While the state mask mandates have been lifted, state and federal guidance in the camp and childcare industries still advocate the use of masks and distancing due to the high population of unvaccinated children.

Thank you for supporting our staff and organization as we navigate the return to in-person summer art camps!

Updates to the 2021 Camp Program

  • Pre-Camp and Post-Camp Care will not be available for Summer 2021.
  • Drop-off time will be extended to 8:30am-9:00am. Pick-up time remains 4:00pm-4:15pm.
  • There will not be a Friday art show this year. Pick-up on Friday will take place as normal, from 4:00pm-4:15pm and the Art Center will post photos from the camp week by Tuesday of the following week. You may view them at www.annarborartcenter.org/art-camp-photos
  • Please read through our “Covid-Related Cancellations, Missed Days, & Camp Closures Policy”

Group Sizes & Cohorting

  • Each group will be limited to 10 students or less and will remain separate from other groups indoors.
  • Each group may be outdoors and use the play yard with one other designated group.
  • Pairings are: Creativity Camp Ages 5-7 & 8-9 | Creativity Camp Ages 10-12 & Clay Camp.

Masks

  • All students, camp staff, and volunteers must wear a mask inside the Art Center.
  • Masks are not required when eating, drinking, or when outdoors and distancing is possible.
  • Masks must be worn outdoors when distancing is not possible and at all times while at the Play Yard. The Play Yard is private property and this is part of our use agreement.
  • No exceptions are made to the mask policy, including vaccination status. We will be modeling clear mask expectations for our younger and almost entirely non-vaccinated camp population.

Social Distancing

  • Students and staff will physically distance both indoors and outdoors, whenever possible.
  • Fully vaccinated staff will be permitted to assist students undistanced when a situation requires it.

Sanitization

  • Students and camp staff will wash and sanitize hands regularly throughout the day.
  • Common areas and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned regularly.
  • Each student will be assigned their own set of regularly used supplies for the week.

Covid-19 Self-Screening & Temperature Checks

Upon arrival, both staff and parents/guardians of campers must confirm they have self-screened for Covid-19 using the screening guide provided. No-touch temperature checks will also be conducted.

Covid-19 Illness OR Exposure

See the “Camper Health & Wellness Policy” on page 7.

HOW LONG MUST A CHILD DIAGNOSED WITH COVID ISOLATE BEFORE ATTENDING CAMP?

Children who have recently tested positive for Covid-19 must wait 10 days after symptom onset and resolution of fever for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medications, before attending camp.

State & Federal UPDATES

The Art Center will review any state or federal updates to guidelines or mandates as they apply to the childcare or camp industries. If changes are necessitated, the Art Center will contact parents via e-mail.

A2AC Camp Program vs. A2AC PUBLIC SPACES

Creativity Camp is located on the 3rd floor of the Art Center and the Clay Studio is partitioned off from the rest of the first floor. These areas are closed to the public. Areas of the A2AC that are open to the public are regulated as a business and not as a childcare/camp program. They are subject to different state and federal guidelines and the mask policy in those areas may vary from camp policy.
