Pressed Flower Collage

Collage isn’t limited to paper and pictures. Learn how to create a beautiful, botanical piece of art by collaging with pressed flowers.

Supplies

  • Paper
  • Glue
  • Flowers
  • Book

STEP 1

Pick an assortment of flowers. Think about what color flowers you want to collage with, as well as the shape and size. If you want to include some greenery into your collage, pick some vines, leafs, and stems as well.

STEP 2

Press your flowers between the pages of a book, or between two books. Lay paper down under and on top of your flowers to avoid the flowers from staining your books. Try pressing flowers in full and individual petals. Wait a few days for the flowers to dry and flatten.

STEP 3

Glue down your dried flowers. Think about the design you want to create with them. Do you want your petals to create an abstract design? Or do you want to use petals to create the silhouette of a specific object, like a heart or a moon? Play with overlapping your flowers in some areas and use the natural shape of the petals to help you achieve your design.

STEP 4

To add additional details and depth, consider using additional mediums like pen line work, colored pencil, or even traditional collage materials like bits of colored paper.
