Crafting with Buttons

Make some art that’s as cute as a button!

Supplies

  • Buttons
  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Other options: markers, colored pencils, crayons

STEP 1

Using scissors and construction paper, cut out basic shapes that will help you create your picture. If you’re having a hard time deciding what kind of picture to make, think about the shape of your buttons and objects that have a similar shape. Most buttons are circles; what shapes can you think of that are circular, have circle components, or have curves? For instance, maybe your buttons will be the wheels of a bicycle or a bowl of cherries.

STEP 2

Glue down the paper shapes to your backdrop.

STEP 3

Glue down your buttons. Your buttons may be layered over your cutout shapes or glued directly on your backdrop paper depending on what you are making.

You can also try using a pen, markers, or colored pencils to add any additional linework or details.
