Pop-Up Theatre: Neighborhood Theatre Group

Where: Liberty Plaza Park

Fee: Free

The Ypsilanti-based Neighborhood Theatre Group will perform a pop-up theatre presentation: "THE BIG GAME WEEKEND, with Marissa and Eric", an original sketch show inspired by the long standing rivalry between the University of Michigan and Michigan State University.

Audience members are able to drop in and out of the experience composed of vignettes performed in Liberty Plaza Park.

THE BIG GAME WEEKEND with Marissa and Eric is a comical and historically inaccurate two person sketch show with 15 original characters that were developed through research of University of Michigan and Michigan State. From Fielding Yost to Biggie Munn to Spartan tailgaters and real live wolverines, this show is sure to get you pumped up for the big game! You can even follow two of our characters on Instagram right now! Follow UofM graduates Jerry Travis @jtravis4drains and Bekha @bekhacrekha3 as Jerry “campaigns” to be Drain Commissioner of Washtenaw County. See them at the show and find out if he “wins”!

Neighborhood Theatre Group (NTG) is dedicated to cultivating a welcoming and collaborative environment for theatre artists in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Featuring original works, sketch shows, cabarets, and self-produced videos – NTG believes in theatre’s ability to bring individuals together and create a sense of place. NTG was founded in 2014 by theatre artists Kristin Anne Danko and Aaron Dean after moving to Ypsilanti from Chicago’s experimental theatre scene. They are thrilled to be working with such a talented and creative community.

Besides its POP-X pop-up exclusive presentation, this two person show starring Marissa Kurtzhals and Eric Hohnke runs from October 15th – October 17th at Dreamland Theatre (26 N. Washington St.) in Downtown Ypsilanti. $10 General Admission, $5 Students with a Valid ID. All shows are at 8pm with doors opening at 7:30pm.
