In my opinion, one of the greatest gifts the Ann Arbor Art Center offers is the ability to move with the community throughout its various stages of life. I originally volunteered. In the future I look forward to taking classes myself and sharing the arts with our son.
Opening Reception
Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 6-8pm
Since it’s inception in 1922 ... this 89th annual juried exhibition has provided many opportunities for both established and emerging artists throughout the state of Michigan. Approximately 4,000 artists (from Albion to Zilwaukee) are invited to enter. Submission of work is open to any medium. Awards will be given to artists who display exceptional works of art and/or artists who demonstrate outstanding technique.

This year’s juror is Rebecca Mazzei, Deputy Director + Special Projects at MOCAD (the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit) Mazzei is the former assistant dean of the College for Creative Studies as well as the award-winning arts and culture editor of Metro Times. Prior to her work as editor, Mazzei served for four years as a director at Intuit: the Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art in Chicago.
