Kid Camps in Ann Arbor

Creativity Camps | Ages 5-12

Each day, our Creativity Camps for kids in Ann Arbor are packed with fun and challenging activities that balance learning and play. Campers may experiment with a variety of mediums such as graphite, paint, pastels, charcoal, watercolor, sculptural materials, and more.   Although we provide a lot of traditional art instruction, we also encourage campers to take what they’ve learned and apply it to outside-the-box projects.

  • Children are divided into the following groups: Ages 5-7, Ages 8-9, Ages 10-12.
  • Drop-off Time | 8:40am - 9:00am
  • Pick-up Time | 4:00pm - 4:20pm

Tuition: $445/week

Please note:

We do not make exceptions to the minimum age required to be in a given group.

Week 1 is a 4-Day camp due to the Juneteenth Holiday. | Tuition for this camp is $385

Creativity Camp sessions do not use clay that is fired in a kiln and they do not throw on the pottery wheel.

SPRING BREAK: ECO ART EXPLORERS

MARCH 30 - APRIL 3

Celebrate the art that Earth has to offer through sustainable supplies. Campers will connect with the Earth by using natural and recycled materials to create beautiful, meaningful art. Campers will focus on sustainability and creativity through hands-on, eco-friendly projects.
Campers will:

  • Create a sun print using materials found in nature.
  • Build a sculpture using recycled materials.
  • Work together to make paper from scratch!


WEEK 1: COLOR SPLASH (4 DAY CAMP WEEK)

JUNE 15 - JUNE 18

Kick off Summer Camp with a splash of color!  In this 4-day camp, young artists will dive into the color wheel to explore how colors mix, contrast, and come alive through exciting hands-on projects. Each day is a new chance to explore how color can tell stories, show feelings, and spark imagination. Campers will:

  • Create a suncatcher using colorful materials.
  • Make colorful, mesmerizing optical art.
  • Create a work of art inspired by the bold colors of Pop Art.

*THIS IS A FOUR-DAY CAMP WEEK. THERE WILL BE NO CAMP ON FRIDAY.


WEEK 2: AROUND THE WORLD ADVENTURE

JUNE 22 - JUNE 26

Go around the world in five days as campers embark on a journey that spans continents!

Each day, young artists will “travel” to a new corner of the world—exploring different art styles from different countries of the world! Let’s set off to:

  • Create a colorful abstract painting inspired by Australian artist Sheree Smith.
  • Create a yarn painting inspired by Mexican Huichol artists. 
  • Make a Japanese Hand Fan using watercolor techniques.


WEEK 3: SUMMERWEEN!

JUNE 29 - JULY 3

Join us for a delightfully spook-tacular camp week as we combine all things Halloween with Summer! Explore how mixing seasons boosts imagination as campers think creatively, craft their out-of-the-box ideas, and create lasting memories. Campers will:

  • Design a watermelon Jack-O-Lantern using oil pastels.
  • Create a beachy landscape for some ghosts!
  • Craft a colorful spiderweb using salt and watercolor.


WEEK 4: SUPERHERO STUDIO

JULY 6 - JULY 10

Get ready to unleash your inner hero! Discover the power of creativity as campers transform into artists and heroes. Through hands-on projects and creative storytelling, every young artist will discover what makes them truly extraordinary. Campers will bring comic-book characters to life by:

  • Designing and building a superhero mask.
  • Crafting miniature self-portraits of your own superhero!
  • Create a vibrant pop-art comic strip to bring your hero's story to life.


WEEK 5: WELCOME TO THE RENAISSANCE

JULY 13 - JULY 17

Step back in time to explore the masterpieces of the Renaissance era! Experiment with classical techniques, dream up mythical creatures, and explore a world where history and magic come together. Campers will:

  • Learn the techniques of Michelangelo and create a Sistine Chapel under a table!
  • Create a hatching dragon egg.
  • Craft a crown fit for a renaissance royal.


WEEK 6: MINI MAKERS

JULY 20 - JULY 24

Dive into the magical world of miniatures to learn all about scale and proportion by shrinking every day objects! From crafting tiny treasures to building whole worlds that fit in the palm of their hand, campers explore detail and imagination on a whole new tinier scale. Campers will:

  • Create a tiny animal that fits into a miniature habitat.
  • Design and create a miniature collapsible paper house!
  • Craft a fairy house to place somewhere for people to discover.


WEEK 7: FOOD FOR THOUGHT

JULY 27 - JULY 31

Creativity is on the menu this week! Campers will explore the delicious world of food-inspired art! Tasty treats for the eye will be the main course, such as:

  • Sculpt a food-themed tic-tac-toe board
  • Craft interactive, stackable meals using a variety of materials 
  • Paint a still-life of food items from a real-life example!


WEEK 8: MONSTER MAKERS

AUGUST 3 - AUGUST 7

This week, campers will dive into the world of wild and whimsical creature creation! From quirky, goofy goblins to fearsome fuzzballs, we’ll explore what it takes to design and bring to life a world of unique monsters. Campers will:

  • Design and create a movable monster pop up book! Experiment with movable parts, textures, and colors to bring a monster to life.
  • Build a wearable monster mask or accessory to transform into a unique creature.
  • Craft a brand new monster using clay!


WEEK 9: UNDER THE SEA

AUGUST 10 - AUGUST 14

Young artists will explore an ocean of imagination as they create vibrant sea-inspired artwork each day. Campers will dive deep into their imaginations to create their own sea creatures and bring ideas to life up here on land! Campers will:

  • Work together to create an underwater installation in the window of the Art Center!
  • Create a fishbowl snowglobe of an underwater creature
  • Explore a variety of techniques to render realistic textures such as coral, bubbles, and scales.


WEEK 10: MOVIE MAKERS

AUGUST 17 - AUGUST 21

Lights, camera, creativity! Step into the world of film and bring stories to life! Campers will explore movie-making by collaborating on a camp-wide stop motion film designed and directed by themselves! Campers will explore stills from their favorite movies to create works of art fit for the screen! Movie makers will:

  • Use a variety of materials to create handheld projectors!
  • Collaborate to design a set and film a stop motion project.
  • Design your own movie poster!
